STUDENT OF THE MONTH

1) Tell us about yourself! My name is Kaitlyn I’m 28 years old and I’m originally from England But moved to Louisiana in 2018. I have been singing since I was 6 years old but decided to finally take my music career seriously within the last few years.

2) What is your favorite hobby? I have ALOT of hobbies. First and foremost I am an artist/tattoo artist so I paint and draw but when I’m not doing that I play the ukulele and write music.

3) What got you interested in music? Musical theatre from the age of 6 but once I reached the age of 18 I became mostly invested in jazz , blues, soul , blue grass , folk and indie rock. I love how music connects with people and that it’s a universal language.

4) What has been the biggest thing you've discovered since starting music lessons with us?  I have learned how to better control my voice using breathing techniques and learned how to access parts of my voice and range that I didn’t know that I was able to by manipulating facial and mouth muscles.

5) What is one of your life goals? To sing on a stage for more than 100 people and to sing jazz in New Orleans

6) Anything else you’d like to mention? I’ve worked with a few teachers since starting and every teacher I have worked with has brought something new to the table that has helped me to see my abilities from another angle and perspective.. that is something I am truly grateful for.

7) What would you tell a friend about the Music Academy of Acadiana? I would say that it’s worth the time and cost. The things you are able to learn as a musician with the right guidance is invaluable, It’s not just a fun pass time but a talent you are investing in for the future.
